New Years Resolutions

I decided to tell the kids about New Years Resolutions. (We were waiting in the car while Shay got some groceries and I needed something to distract the barbarians so they didn't kill each other) So I told them what they were and asked them each to make one. Here goes:
Elly: Wants to learn songs she doesn't know.
I thought this was a really good one and have tried to teach her some songs. She LOVES to sing and sings about everything. Her latest is a mix of the Barney song and some song Kaely taught her and a primary song. It goes, "I need you, you need me, we're a happy family", repeated unlimited amounts of times.
Jane: To be nice.
I was very happy to hear this one, since Jane has been having a very hard time being nice. Since then it seems to have gotten worse. But I guess she gets all year to try.
Kaely: 1-not to be the smallest in my class. 2-eat at Golden Corral at least 10 times this year.
I am guessing that she plans on taking care of #1 by doing #2. I told her there is no way we are eating at Golden Corral that many times because I hate it. I always feel fat when we eat there because when you look around it is just a bunch of fat people overeating on food that isn't that good. And I told her that is not the kind of bigger she is looking for. I also told her to deal with being small or fail a grade, then she wouldn't be the smallest in her class anymore. That sounds really mean, but I am a realist!
Skyler: To try to be less nerdy and more Sophisticated.
I guess just the fact that he said that made him a little more nerdy. He is always using words that 9 year olds don't usually use much less understand. I guess it is all that reading, the other day Shay asked him what book he was reading and he listed 5 books. I told him that wasn't normal, most people answer with one book title. He later informed me that his new years resolution came from a garfield comic. So I guess it did come from reading!

As far as Shay and I, I think our NYR is to survive this year with baby #5. I mean we did twins, how hard could it be?

No Baby yet!

So I am 39 weeks and 2 days. This little boy is huge! I can't wait to see him but I have no option. We are scheduled to c-section if he hasn't come by the 16th.
I have weird dreams every night that I sleep for 3 or more consecutive hours, which is about every 2-3 days, thanks to Tylenol PM.
My latest two have been most enjoyable, but it is hard to beat out the one I had earlier in the pregnancy where my husband sold me to Jack Black for a year for a million dollars. He has great parties by the way.
So the other night I dreamt that I knew for sure how to start labor and I would do it as soon as I woke up. It was great all night, because I was sure I would have my baby the next day. Well I woke up to go to the bathroom 3 times that night and every time I woke up I would forget what I needed to do to have my baby. But as soon as I would go back to sleep I would remember and think how silly that I forgot, its so obvious. But sure enough in the morning I had no clue as to what I was thinking. All I can remember is that it had something to do with a pillow. I think it is probably a good thing that I forgot!

Christmas is for Lovers

We had a wonderful Christmas this year, thanks to being 8.5 months pregnant, I wasn't gung-ho about going anywhere so we just enjoyed our gifts and being at home. The kids actually got up at 1am and we made them go back to sleep until after 6, which they considered torture! Everyone got just what they had hoped for, plus some. And my favorite gift was giving Shay a membership at the gym. He has been much happier since he started going. The line-up

The twins love these books, very funny!

Deep Thoughts By Elly

Yesterday in church Elly comes and sits on my lap.
"Mom, I've been thinking."
"Okay about what"
"What do stores do at night when all the people are sleeping?"
"Well they lock their doors and turn off the lights."
"But what about their beds, don't they have beds."
"No, stores don't need beds."
She quietly contemplated this only to reask the same questions moments later.
Luckily the sacrament came and she forgot all about it.

Cookies With Santa

The twins got to go to work with daddy and have cookies with Santa. I dressed them in their Christmas dresses and sent them off. The last time they went to work with Shay was about a year and a half ago. Jane asked Shay about two weeks ago when they could go back to work with him, the conversations was as follows:

Jane: Daddy when can we go to work with you again?
Shay: I don't know, soon.
Jane: We want to go, and this time you don't have to show your bottom.
Shay: What?
Jane: Last time we went to work with you, you burnt the popcorn in the mircrowave and when you went to fan it, your jacket came up in the back and we saw your bottom.

Shay does remember this event, all except the bottom showing. I guess we all remember things a little differently. But we sure had a good laugh at this one.

The girls were so excited to see Santa. Jane even thought this might be the real one, Elly said it couldn't be because his beard was too short. I told her even Santa has to trim his beard every now and then. "Oh, then it could be the real one. We saw the fake one at church, his beard could come off." They both asked for bikes. Very fun.

Skylers Holiday Concert

This is Skylers first year in band. He wasn't really excited to do it, but willing. Which would pretty much sum Skyler up with anything that isn't video games or books. I really tried to get him to play the drums but he wouldn't have it. So the trombone it is. I made him practice like crazy the week they were out of school for Thanksgiving because his concert was the following tuesday. He didn't complain too bad and ended up doing a really great job. He even wore his suit and bow tie. Looking sharp Skyler boy!

Thanksgiving Pies

We had a rather enjoyable Thanksgiving this year. Being 8 months pregnant, I really didn't want to do much and thankfully we were invited to two different friends houses. The first being the Andersons. These are some of the best people around. I had both of their girls as beehives in Young Women and they are very talented and grounded girls. They also have two boys 8 and 5 I believe. So they have a breakfast tradition, where everyone brings a couple of homemade pies and everyone shares pie for breakfast. I love this tradition, because you are always too full for the pie after a big meal, so why not have it first! There were so many pies, I would say close to 20. Each one of them awesome in their own right. I made a fresh strawberry pie and a chocolate brownie pie with hot fudge drizzled on top. They were great, but so were the other 8 pies I tried. (small servings of course, so everyone could try lots of kinds) I think this is one worth keeping. Then we played games and the kids played outside despite the chilly weather. Most of the kids even played in the creek in their backyard, without us knowing of course. Skyler even dared to cross a log that broke and soaked him to his underarms, or so he says. I just figured he was telling the truth because who would do that on purpose, when it is so stinkin cold out. Shay even attempted their fun swing they had made. You climb up on top of a 10ft latter and jump off to swing. I was a little glad I was pregnant so I was not asked to attempt it, I am a little afraid of heights.
We then went over to our friends the Urbanawizs and enjoyed a wonderful meal and lots of relaxing while the kids destroyed their house. I felt a little guilty, but came back the next day to try and rectify some of the disaster we left behind. But actually felt that I made it worse, with the wicked green that I had convinced them to paint their bathroom just days before their fourth baby arrived. Thankfully they are very forgiving people. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends. Thanks alot guys. You made my day.
